To say it's been a while since my last post is an over statement. However I am back with a new update for all those who are interested. Just to mix things up a bit, I am going to start with my most recent news and work my way backwards.
Currently I am sitting on my couch complaining about how sore I am from a running race I took part in yesterday. The event was called Running With Ed. Yes, I am sure most of you have heard of the event, and furthermore have seen the photos, and or posts, about it on Facebook/Twitter. Let's just say that moving around after running as hard as I can for 9 total miles, is an issue. The problem lies in the fact that I haven't really been running much lately. But hey, there is no better way to jumpstart your running fitness then diving in head first! The event was a blast, Bill Demong, Adam Loomis, Nick Hendrickson, and Tyler Smith were my teammates as we ran for the Youth Winter Sports Alliance/Play Well Play Safe Team. Running with Ed is a fundraiser to help the schools in the Park City valley, it's run as a Ragnar style event where teams of five do two legs each for a total of ten segments. The total length of the race was 38 miles I believe, the longest segment was about 7 miles. Our team placed 2nd in the overall; don't quote me but I also believe we beat the old course record too! However we did get smashed by another team of solid runners, who definitely put in a time record that will be hard to beat for years to come! All in all the event raised over 150,000 dollars for the schools! So my compliments to the organizers, a hugely successful event. On the Nordic Combined side of things, I have been training like crazy. This week was a huge volume week for all of us on the team, and I don't think a single person would say they are not happy it's over. Both on Tuesday and Thursday I had single training sessions that were 6 hours long. The rest of the days pale in comparison but usually had something along the lines of 3 hours of endurance, plus weights! With the exception of this weekend, most of the weekends have been filled with racing bikes for Cole Sport, as always it's a new challenge for us and fun way to cross train this time of year. I have said it before and I will say it again, I am looking forward to this rest week. In addition to training I am currently attending a Maymester class at Westminster College. Currently I am taking "Stock Analysis," I have to admit I am enjoying the class very much. Learning the in's and out's of investments is something I have been wanting to do for a while. So it's easy to learn when you have an ornate interest in the subject. The highlight of the class definitely has been playing the Stock Market Simulator. I am no Warren Buffet or Peter Lynch but it's cool to play in the environment in which they mastered. Outside of the simulator the class has been a nice change in my routine. The last thing on the list for today, is I am trying my hands at growing some vegetables in a planter box at my house. Currently I am trying to grow, Beets, Cilantro, Serrano Peppers, and Jalapeño Peppers. I started them from scratch and hopefully I can actually get them to produce something edible. It's been slow growing so far but I am optimistic they will have a big growth spurt soon! So If you have any advice, don't hesitate to throw it my way cause I am my Thumb is more red then green at this point. That's about the last month in a nutshell, thanks for stopping by and the next update will probably include some jumping details! Get excited.
