Sounds like we will begin jumping in about 10 days. Although the thought of jumping had not crossed my mind, this spring I have been preparing for the jump hill more then I originally thought. I have been losing weight to get down to my BMI (Body Mass Index). This is something I have not tried to do in a long time. Its proved very challenging, however, I am down quite a bit from my old weight. With jumping on the horizon, I am excited to get out there and see what I can do being lighter and just as powerful. I still have a lot of work to do to get down to my BMI weight, but I am much closer then I have ever been. A solid accomplishment in my book!
Yesterday was a sweet day. In the morning Greg, Taylor, and I went for a 1.5 hour roller ski. The weather was beautiful, which made it easy to get the minutes in. Afterwards I got the kayak out of the garage and went to paddle in Ogden. I spent 4 hours playing on the river. I did a two mile hike with my boat up to another wave, which was completely worth it. For me, boating is a great way to get a good core and upper body workout. It also is a nice change of pace from the normal everyday training. Definitely will be going again this weekend!
Today my brother, Logan Oxford and I are heading out for a tour on our bikes. It's finally a nice day with sunshine and minimal wind. Yesterday was not so nice. I rode in everything from sun to rain and snow with high winds. This spring we have appreciated every sunny day. We have been doing some big hours of training the last two weeks and the weather has not been all that cooperative. Next week is a rest week which is much needed. I am looking forward to being able to kick back on the couch with some coffee and relax. Look for a new blog post about nutrition in the next couple days! Thanks for stopping by!
Yesterday our team had a great ride. Almost the entire team was there. Early into our workout you could tell the level of the team was high. Everyone appears to be in pretty good shape for this time of year, which is always good to see. We are almost done with our first big block period and I think everyone is looking forward to a week of rest. After our rest week we will start the process all over again. The next few weeks are the start of a very busy summer. Summer training this year is going to fly by... as a team we have so many things going on its going to be hard to keep them all straight. I am sure we will manage in the end. Everyone is looking forward to the winter so we don't want to miss any steps on the
Today our team is heading out to Kamas, Utah for a three hour ride. Our team usually rides three or more times per week. Road biking has become a staple in our training, it allows us to get the long hours, without over stressing the body. In addition its a lot easier to ride for three hours then to roller-ski or run for three hours. Everyone is getting into the racing aspect as well. Each year our team does a couple races. Since we are varying in ability, it adds a wild element we are not used to, making it a ton of fun. So come out and join us for a ride sometime or watch for us in the local races!
