Over the last month there has been no shortage of hard work. Immediately after returning from Russia we geared up for U.S. Nationals. Nationals was a challenge this year and it was the first time in a couple years I have been outside the top 3. However it was not due to a slip in performance instead it was a testament to the depth we have on our team. Nationals was a very challenging competition in which, we had 7 people fighting for the win and all of them could have taken it. It all came down to who had the most left on the last hill.
Following Nationals our team went back to the grind stone, and kicked off an intensity week wrapping it all up with another time trial. Just for fun we used the results from nationals as the start list. The TT was nothing but an all out hammer fest, that resulted in personal best times for just about everyone on the team. After several tough weeks it was finally time for a break. While ramping down the XC training for the week we had the opportunity to focus on jumping. In addition to it all it was perfect timing for a rest week because the Olympics started and it was awesome to watch while laying low.
Off the hill and course I have been staying busy, I started working a new job as a server at a sushi restaurant. The restaurant is in my neighborhood making my life easy as well. In addition to serving, I have been trying my hand at rolling sushi. I am no master yet, but come in and try a roll I think you would be surprised! Needless to say between work and training I have not had much free time however, you will hear no complaints from this guy as it has been a great schedule the last couple weeks. More news to come in the next few weeks so check back soon!
