Jumping Farther, Skiing Faster
Our week of training in Steamboat is officially over today. Most of the guys have returned to Park City, UT to begin another camp this week. Last weeks camp was a great start to the summer training season. Of course there were some challenges. We spent almost the entire camp in Steamboat jumping in cross-country suits. Every little mistake is amplified while jumping in XC suits. So naturally there were a few good jumps and a few bad jumps. I will honestly admit that jumping in XC suits is not that much fun and we certainly gave our coaches plenty of grief about it. Overall I think everyone on the team came out with some positive feedback in their jumping after the week was said and done.
In addition to jumping we had plenty of XC training, luckily there was enough sunshine and nice weather that we did not have to continue wearing our XC suits all day. We spent a lot of time riding the roads as a team. We had two days of 3+ hour rides which we brought a bunch of the juniors on as well. We also spent some quality time on rollerskis, we had some easy distance as well as intervals and a brutally hard time trial. The time trail was our first of the summer and also marked the last XC session of the week. I think everyone was happy to have it over and done with.
This week we continue the big training load here in Park City, UT. As usual look for us out on the road this week, we will be spending a ton of time biking, rollerskiing, and running. We will also be spending a couple days on the jump hill. So stop by the Utah Olympic Park on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday around 9am to catch us NC guys in action.
