Jumping Farther, Skiing Faster
Sorry for the delay in updates. The holiday's were busy and full of rest and training. My rest days were full of alpine skiing and hanging out with the family. On saturday we had a 15k race at Whitepine Touring Center. The race was pretty tough. Bill hammered on the front pretty hard. He had a little help from Nick H. as well as Ben Simms. Ben a the new Australian Nordic Combined skier. The race came down to two sprints Bill and Nick, Ben and myself. Ben got me by a lot I had nothing left. Bill was able to edge out nick in a neck and neck sprint to the line.
Today we did some training on the new jump hill in Shonach, Germany. The hill has been redone almost entirely. I have to say its a pretty unique feeling hill. The hill is very flat feeling. In years past this hill has always been short and steep. So definitely a different feeling from the hill before.
After jumping we hammered out some intervals on the course and made it home just before dinner. This weekend we have a team event and one individual. I think it will be interesting to see how everyone does after a two week break from competitions. The holidays always seem to shake things up a bit. As always I will try to update as much as possible throughout the weekend.
